Mississippi Trip Next Up for Women’s Hoops

Who: Florida A&M (2-19, 3-8 SWAC) at Jackson State, Alcorn State 
When (at JSU): Saturday, Feb. 12 | 3 p.m. CT / 4 p.m. ET 
When (at ASU): Monday, Feb. 14 | 5:30 p.m. CT / 6:30 p.m. ET

The Florida A&M women's basketball team has two road swings remaining on its regular-season schedule, and an upcoming trip to Mississippi includes stops at Jackson State and Alcorn State.  

SWAC Standings | Jackson State currently sits atop the Southwestern Athletic Conference with an unblemished 11-0 mark in league play, while Alcorn State, in possession of a 1-10 record, ranks 12th (out of a 12-team field). 

The top eight seeds will qualify for the 2022 SWAC Basketball Tournament (March 9-12) in Birmingham, Ala. FAMU is presently ranked 10th. 

The Last Outing | The Rattlers outscored Prairie View A&M in the second half but couldn't overcome their slow start in a 64-51 setback. 

Tia Bradshaw led FAMU in scoring for the first time this season with 14 points (a season-high three triplets)
• Staysha Allen grabbed 10 rebounds for her third game this year with at least 10 
PVAM held a 36-13 edge at halftime 

The Facilitator | True freshman Jamaryn Blair is the Rattlers' leading facilitator. The Cleveland, Tenn., native owns 33 assists in 18.4 minutes per game, and her active hands have also forced 15 steals. 

The Freshmen | All four of the Rattlers' true freshmen (Jamaryn Blair, Naomi Johnson, Alexis Roberts, and Eliya Ellis) have received their first taste of collegiate basketball. 

Blair | Seventeen appearances with two starts (at Tulsa, at Dayton) … 18.4 MPG, 2.4 PPG, 2.1 RPG … team-high 33 assists 

Johnson | Two appearances … saw the floor for the very first time at Mississippi Valley State and recorded a team-high seven rebounds

Roberts | Thirteen appearances with one start (at Georgia State) … 7.0 MPG, 1.2 PPG, 1.1 RPG

Ellis | Made her first appearance versus Texas Southern … played 30 minutes against Prairie View A&M and notched 10 points, four rebounds, and a pair of assists
