Rattlers Travel to the Bluegrass State to Take on Louisville Saturday

LOUISVILLE, Ky. | Florida A&M men's basketball travel to Kentucky as they prepare to take on Louisville Saturday, December 17, at 2 p.m. for their first of two games in the Bluegrass State.

Scouting the Rattlers
• The Rattlers are coming off their second win of the season versus Edward Waters, in which Jaylen Bates recorded his second double-double of the season (13 points, 12 rebounds).
Jordan Tillmon and Jaylen Bates lead the Rattlers in scoring (9.1 PPG). Jordan Chatman (8.9 PPG) and Byron Smith (8.8 PPG) are both behind them, as the Rattlers have four averaging 8+ PPG.
• Bates also leads the Rattlers in rebounds, averaging 7.1 RPG and double-doubles with two (both in wins).
• The Rattlers' strength this season has been crashing the offensive glass as they're ranked 96th in the nation, averaging 11.75 offensive rebounds per game.
 
Scouting the Cardinals
• The Cardinals enter a new era led by Coach Kenny Payne, who came from the New York Knicks (2020-22) before spending a decade at Kentucky (2010-20) as an assistant and associate head coach.
• The Cardinals are coming off their first win of the season, defeating Western Kentucky 94-83.
• Guard El Ellis (#3) leads the Cardinals, a Tallahassee Community College transfer, as he is the only player to average more than 10 PPG at 17 PPG. Ellis has also taken the 38th most shot attempts in the nation with 156.
• The Cardinals are one of the better free throw shooting teams in the nation as they're ranked 50th in the nation, shooting 75% from the line.
