Rattler Volleyball Remains Undefeated in SWAC Play

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. | The Florida A&M volleyball team (6-11, 3-0 SWAC) remained undefeated in Southwestern Athletic Conference play this season with a straight-set success over Alabama A&M Monday (Oct. 3). Four of the team's six wins have finished in three sets; the latest also marked its 15th straight win over SWAC opponents.

Florida A&M 3, Alabama A&M 0 (25-14, 25-18, 25-17)

The Rattlers handily defeated the Bulldogs on their home court, limiting them to just 32 points and a .089 hitting percentage, while they flashed their offensive prowess on the opposite side of the net. The visitors jumped out to an early 12-1 lead at the start of the first set, overcame a bit of adversity en route to an 18-14 edge in the second, and never trailed in the close-out frame.

The decision also marked the first time that Florida A&M held an opponent to under 20 points in three sets. Emerald Jacobs led the team with 11 kills, while three others - Brooke Lynn Watts, Aja Jones, and Dominique Washington -- added 10 apiece. Washington also contributed 15 digs.

FAMU returns to Alabama next week (Oct. 9-10) for the first SWAC Cluster; there, it'll meet Grambling State, Arkansas Pine-Bluff, and Prarie View A&M.
