Men's Track and Field

Eugene Bound!

Jaylyn Scott is heading to the NCAA Division I Track & Field Championships in Eugene, Ore.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Jaylyn Scott has never run the 400-meter hurdles faster than he did in the quarterfinal round of the NCAA East Preliminary Track & Field Championships (May 28), and the performance paid off -- he's going to the national championships.

The first heat pit Scott against student-athletes from Power 5 institutions like  Auburn, Kentucky, Georgia, Tennessee, Duke, and North Carolina, and the junior represented Florida A&M with a third-place finish of 50.36. The time shaved milliseconds off his previous personal record (50.71) while also earning him a trip to Eugene, Ore.

The men's 400-meter hurdles semifinals are scheduled for Wednesday, June 9, at 7 p.m.
