Tallahassee Fla. | Florida A&M piled up 10 hits, including a solo homerun by
Seyjuan Lawrence, as the Rattlers earned an 8-3 game two victory over North Carolina Central, avenging a 3-0 loss in game one at Moore-Kittles Field on Friday afternoon.
Â
Game One
Â
The first contest of the day featured a pitcher's duel between FAMU's
Josh Hancock and NCCU's Austin Vernon.
Â

Neither team could muster a run, or very many hits, over the first five innings of the game. Both teams combined for just five hits heading into the sixth inning.
Â

Â
FAMU was limited to three hits.
Â
Game Two
Â
While hits were hard to come by in game one, the nightcap was the complete opposite. The Rattlers exploded for 10 hits, while NCCU picked up nine.
Â
After the Eagles jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead in the top of the first, the Rattlers responded with six runs in the bottom half of the inning.
Â
NCCU's starting pitcher Shawn Runey had a tough time on the mound as all six batters he faced got on base.
Â
LJ Bryant picked up the first RBI of the day for the Rattlers, driving a single through the left side of the infield and scoring
Octavien Moyer and advancing
Joseph Pierini to third. One batter later,
Jared Weber cleared the bases with a two RBI single to put FAMU up 3-2.
Â
Lawrence tacked on an RBI when he doubled to score Weber to stretch the Rattler lead to 4-2.
JD Tease drove FAMU's fifth run home on a groundout to third base.
Â
Pierini added FAMU's sixth run of the inning after hitting a single that ricocheted off of NCCU's pitcher, allowing no play to be made.
Â
With the Rattlers up 6-3 in the bottom of the fifth, Lawrence smacked a ball over the left field wall for his fourth homer of the year.
Bryant rounded out the scoring for FAMU when he hit an RBI double to left centerfield to give the Rattlers an 8-3 lead in the sixth inning.
Â
Starting pitcher
Kelyn Fox (5-1) continued to shine, picking up his fifth victory in his previous six appearances. Fox put in 5.0 innings of work, giving up just three runs on seven hits and striking out two batters.
