Greensboro, N.C | The Florida A&M baseball team took the diamond against the North Carolina A&T Aggies in a two game series at War Memorial Stadium on Saturday.
The Rattlers got off to a hot start getting on the board early in the first inning after senior infielder Octavien Moyer scored on a wild pitch. The Aggies responded with a score of their own after a sacrificial bunt from junior outfielder Justin Rodriguez that would send sophomore Tony Mack to home. Senior shortstop Dustin Baber would knock the ball deep to right giving the Aggies a 2-1 lead.
From there, the Rattlers would take over. Consecutive unearned runs on four hits flipped the tide giving the Rattlers a 5-2 lead at the top of the second inning.
NCAT responded with a run in the fourth inning as junior Zach Mclean singled up the middle to score Baber to making it a 5-3 game.
The Rattler bats proved to be too much, however, when they exploded with a six-hit, four run sequence in the fifth inning. Moyer showed his talents by running and batting at an exceptional rate. The Rattlers would finish game one with a "W" in the column completing the 13-5 victory.
Game two, however, did not fare as well for the Rattlers.
The Aggies rushed to a 6-0 lead early in the game, but the Rattlers fought back to bring themselves within close proximity. Between the fifth and sixth inning, the Rattlers only trailed by one run with a 6-5 score.
In the bottom of the sixth, the Aggies regained control after a series of walks and a single up the middle which would cement the 10-5 win.
The Rattlers fell to 13-22 on the season and look to even the series this Sunday.
