Tallahassee, Fla. |Dealing with rain on and off throughout the day, Florida A&M (12-17, 6-0 MEAC) continued its hot start in Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) play, defeating Norfolk State (9-20, 5-5 MEAC) in both games of a soggy Saturday doubleheader at Moore-Kittles Field.

FAMU beat NSU 12-5 in game one and 6-2 in the second game. The Rattlers' 6-0 conference start is its best since starting 1995 season 7-0.

Game one
Â
In the first contest, FAMU jumped on NSU quickly, building a 9-0 lead after two innings.
The Rattlers quickly loaded the bases thanks to a couple of walks and a double by
Jared Weber. Designated hitter
Miles Watson narrowly missed a grand slammed when he banged a three-RBI double of the right-centerfield wall.Â

Seyjuan Lawrence followed up with an RBI double to left field, bringing Watson around to score.
JD Tease then singled to left field, plating Lawrence and giving the Rattlers a 5-0 at the end on the first inning.

The Rattlers kept putting pressure on the Spartans in the second inning.
Â
LJ Bryant got on base after getting hit with a pitch the open the inning. Bryant then stole second to give the Rattlers a runner in scoring position.
Tucker Rayburn moved Bryant to third base after hitting the FAMU's third double of the contest. One batter later, Bryant scored when
Grant Rowell reached first base on an error, pushing the lead to 6-0.

FAMU tacked on two more runs when Tease singled to right field picking up an RBI. Tease advanced to second and another scored following a throwing error from right field.

The Rattlers pushed its lead to 9-0 when
Adam Haidermota picked up a RBI after grounding out to second base.

Just before the rain halted the action, NSU scored four runs in the fourth inning to close the gap to five runs.Â

In the bottom of the fifth inning, with FAMU leading 9-5, the Rattlers put the Spartans away. Weber hit another double, this time for an RBI. Two batters later, Rowell hit a two-RBI double stretching the Rattlers' lead to 12-5.

Weber led the Rattler attack at the plate, going 3-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored.
Josh Hancock (4-3) picked up the win for the Rattlers, going 4.0 innings allowing four runs on nine hits with one strikeout and one walk.Â

In game two, FAMU earned a hard fought 6-2 victory, holding off an energetic NSU squad.

FAMU starting pitcher
Kelyn Fox (3-1) picked up his third win of the season, working 6.2 innings allowing just two runs on eight hits with four strikeouts and two walks.

Octavien Moyer accounted for two of FAMU's five hits in the nightcap.

After a scoreless first inning, FAMU built a 3-0 lead at the end of the first. The Rattlers scored its first two runs on a throwing error by the Spartans. Moyer picked up an RBI single with two outs.

Leading 3-2 in the fifth inning, FAMU built a four-run lead that NSU wouldn't be able to overcome.

Tristen Cooper hit a sacrifice fly to the give the Rattlers a 4-2 lead. Weber followed that up with an RBI single.
Tucker Rayburn wrapped up the scoring when he laced an RBI double to left field, extended FAMU's lead to 6-2.
