Florida A&M Puts Up 12 Runs as the Rattlers Sweep North Carolina A&T

Tallahassee, Fla. | Florida A&M exploded for 12 runs on 13 hits, including two homeruns, defeating North Carolina A&T 12-7 and completing a series sweep of the Aggies at Moore-Kittles field on Sunday afternoon.

LJ Bryant put on a remarkable performance, going 4-for-4 with one homerun, a double, five RBIs and four runs scored. Grant Rowell also showcased his homerun ability, going 1-for-3 with a three-run homer.

Zach Morea (2-0) pitched his second win of the series and season, tossing 4.2 scoreless innings with two strikeouts while giving up four hits.

FAMU (9-16, 4-0 MEAC) blitzed the Aggies early, building a 5-0 through the first three innings of play. With FAMU up 2-0 in the third inning Rowell sent a three-run shot to left field.

While the Rattlers held what felt like a comfortable lead, A&T (7-17, 2-6 MEAC) roared back in the top of the fourth, sending 12 batters to plate and scoring six runs. The Aggies' half of the inning was punctuated by a three-run homer by Grant Tilley.

The Rattlers surged back into the lead just one inning later, hitting four doubles and putting four runs in the board. Following a leadoff walk drawn by Octavien Moyer, Tristan Cooper laced a double to left field moving Moyer over the third base. Jared Weber followed up with a double of his own, scoring Moyer and tying the game at six.

LJ Bryant followed Weber's double with a two RBI double, stretching the Rattlers lead to 8-6. Seyjuan Lawrence hit a sacrifice fly, pushing FAMU's lead to 9-6 at the end of the fifth.

In the eighth inning, with the Rattlers up 10-6, Bryant picked up his fifth RBI of the day smoking a 2-0 pitch to deep left field for a two-run homerun, his second long ball of the season.
