Tallahassee, Fla. | Junior catcher, Andrew Borque, hit his first homerun of season as Florida A&M dropped the series finale to Florida Gulf Coast, 3-2, on Sunday afternoon at Moore-Kittles Field. The loss wrapped up the series which FAMU (5-16) and FGCU (12-7) split 2-2.

As a team, the Rattlers struggled to string together hits, being held to five hits in 32 at-bats.

Jared Weber led FAMU in hits, going 2-for-3 with a double.
LJ Bryant, who went 1-for-4, picked up an extra base hit for the Rattlers, drilling an RBI double in the bottom of the first inning, tying the game at 1-1.

The Eagles added a run in the second inning after a bases loaded walk to claim a 2-1 lead.

Borque tied the game in the fifth inning after turned on a pitch, sending it to deep left field for a solo homerun.

The Rattlers and Eagles entered a stalemate, failing to score over the next three innings. FGCU eventually broke the tie with a two out RBI single in the top of the ninth.

FAMU was retired in order in the bottom of the inning, preserving the 3-2 victory for FGCU.

Josh Barr (0-2) got the start for the Rattlers, earning a no decision. Barr pitched 5.0 innings allowing two runs on seven hits while striking out three. Relievers
Zach Morea, Ben Krizen and
Chandellor Benton combined for 4.0 innings, allowing one run on four hits with one strikeout and one walk. Krizen (1-1) received the loss.

FAMU returns to action on Friday to begin a four-game weekend series with North Carolina A&T (March 26-28). Friday's contest begins at 5 p.m. This series will be the first Mid-Eastern Athletics Conference (MEAC) series of the season for the Rattlers.
