FAMU Softball Drops Doubleheader at North Carolina A&T

Greensboro, N.C. | Florida A&M Softball faced North Carolina A&T State atLady Aggies Softball Complexfor a double header on Saturday. The Rattlers dropped both games, 8-3 and 2-4. 

Game 1
In the first game, Kaylin Rhone went 3-for-4, smacking an RBI triple in the fifth inning. Melkayla Irvis also had a multi-hit game, going 2-for-4 and scoring one run.
 
With the Rattlers trailing 8-0, Rhone's triple plated the Rattlers' first run of the contest.
 
Seriah Brokenborough followed up with single to right field, scoring Rhone to cut the Aggie advantage to 8-2. Desiarae Beachem also picked up an RBI on the day.
 
Brandice Boatright (0-6) picked up the loss on the mound for the Rattlers (3.0 IP, 8 H, 6 R, 4 ER, 1 BB, 1 K, 3 WP).
 
Game 2
In the second game Brokenborough led the Rattlers in hits with two hits, going 2-for-3 with one RBI. 
 
After a rocky first inning which saw A&T score three runs, Nadia Zenteno tossed 5.0 innings of scoreless softball. For the game, Zenteno worked 6.0 innings allowing four runs on five hits with two strikeouts while walking seven batters.
 
Brokenborough hit an RBI double in the sixth inning to score Kenyaaamri Jones. Brokenborough reached third on the throw. Sydnee Worthy reached on a fielding error by the Aggies second baseman, allowing Borkenborugh to score and cut the Aggie advantage to 3-2.
 
A&T added an insurance run in the bottom of the sixth, stretching its lead back to two. FAMU, couldn't get anything going in the top of the seventh, falling 4-2.

On Deck
FAMU wraps up the series with NCA&T in another doubleheader on Sunday.  First picth is set for 11 a.m.
