Coastal Carolina Christmas ClassicÂ
Florida A&M women's hoops return to action this weekend (Dec. 18-19) in the Coastal Carolina Christmas Classic, where it will take on the host CCU and the College of Charleston. Both games tip-off at 2 p.m.
The Last Outing
FAMU is not interested in moral victories, but the recent 61-52 decision to Georgia State deserves high praise.
- Three Rattlers scored in double-figures for the first time this season: Dylan Horton (18); Malerie Brooks (10); Tia Bradshaw (10)
- The point margin was the closest finish so far this year.
- Florida A&M shot a season's best .340 (17-50) from the floor and .813 (13-16) at the free-throw line.
- Its 15 turnovers marked the second-fewest this year.
Veteran Status
Dylan Horton is having quite a fantastic debut season at FAMU. The Los Angeles native transferred into the program ahead of the 2021-22 season and has already doubled her point total from her first two seasons at Virginia combined. She currently leads the Rattlers with 14.0 PPG (ranking fourth in the Southwestern Athletic Conference) and has finished in double-figures six games this season, crowned by a career-high 19 points at Memphis (Nov. 20).
A Rotating LineupÂ
Head coach Shalon Pillow has explored five different starting lineups this season, and only two Rattlers - Tia Bradshaw and Malerie Brooks - have been mainstays in each. Dylan Horton, the team's leading scorer, has also started in all but two contests.
