Greensboro, N.C. |The Florida A&M men's basketball team (2-7, 1-1 MEAC) fell to North Carolina A&T (7-9, 4-0 MEAC) 70-58 inside the Ellis Corbett Sports Center in Greensboro, N.C. on Saturday afternoon.
The contest was the Rattlers first game since defeating South Carolina State on Jan. 10.
Jalen Speer and
MJ Randolph paced the scorning attack for the FAMU. Speer tossed in 17 points, while Randolph scored 12 points. They were the only Rattlers to score in double-figures.
Randolph also snagged nine rebounds, nine assists and four steals in the effort.
The Aggies had four players score in double-figures. Tyrone Lyons and Kameron Langley both posted double-doubles for A&T. Langley scored 15 points with 10 assists, while Lyons contributed 10 points with 10 rebounds.
Blake Harris scored 11 and Kwe Parker scored 10.
FAMU shot a season-low 33.3 percent from the field (19-of-57), while the Aggies hit on 44.8 percent of their shots (26-of-58).
How It Happened
Florida A&M jumped out to a 15-8 lead early in the first half and looked to outpace A&T. However, the Aggies chipped away at the Rattler lead, tying the game at 15 with 10:53 left in the first half.
With the Rattlers trailing 23-22 with 4:18 left, A&T went on a 12-0 run, sparked by a three-pointer by Kew Parker, building a 35-22 lead at the half.
FAMU outscored the Aggies 36-35 in the second half, but couldn't completely swing momentum its way, as A&T walked away with the 70-58 victory.
