Florida A&M begins Spring Practice

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. | The Florida A&M University football team opened its spring practice season on Saturday at Bragg Memorial Stadium as the Rattlers start preparation for the upcoming season.

Florida A&M started the first of 15 practices this spring and Saturday provided a quick look at what the team will focus on this season as the Rattlers utilize quick tempo and pace through drills, individual and team works. When the team went through slow periods or lulls, head coach Willie Simmons quickly reprimanded the players to snap back into action.

"I thought the guys had a good practice," Simmons said. "There was a lot of retention and carryover from last year. I want to see more of a sense of urgency with tempo as we move from station to station. We'll continue to get better as we move along this spring."

Florida A&M, which went 9-2 last season and earned a Black College Football National Championship, will return back to the field for its second practice on Wednesday.

The Rattlers will hold their annual Orange and Green Spring Game on Saturday, March 28. Kickoff for the spring game is set for 2 p.m. at Bragg Memorial Stadium.
