GAINESVILLE, Fla. | The Florida A&M University softball team went toe-to-toe with the No. 8-ranked Florida Gators on Sunday, dropping a tightly-contested 2-1 decision in the final game of the UF Bubly Invitational at Katie Seashole Pressley Stadium.
FAMU (0-10) faced their fourth Top 25 opponent in nine days on Sunday, taking an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning, when
Jamesia Stoudemire belted a lead-off homer.
The host Gators (11-1) scored both their runs in the third on three hits off FAMU starter
Nadia Zenteno (0-3), who went the distance, scattering six Florida hits, allowing two runs and three walks in six innings.
FAMU finished the day with two hits, Stoudemire's first-inning homer, her second of the year, and a single by Destine Cuevas.

Florida A&M will open their 2020 home schedule on Wednesday against Mercer. First pitch against the Bears is set for 3 p.m. from the Lady Rattler Softball Complex.
