Lady Rattlers push No. 8 Florida in 2-1 loss

GAINESVILLE, Fla. | The Florida A&M University softball team went toe-to-toe with the No. 8-ranked Florida Gators on Sunday, dropping a tightly-contested 2-1 decision in the final game of the UF Bubly Invitational at Katie Seashole Pressley Stadium.

FAMU (0-10) faced their fourth Top 25 opponent in nine days on Sunday, taking an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning, when Jamesia Stoudemire belted a lead-off homer.

The host Gators (11-1) scored both their runs in the third on three hits off FAMU starter Nadia Zenteno (0-3), who went the distance, scattering six Florida hits, allowing two runs and three walks in six innings.

FAMU finished the day with two hits, Stoudemire's first-inning homer, her second of the year, and a single by Destine Cuevas.
