MOBILE, Ala. | The Florida A&M University men's tennis team took the courts on Saturday and dropped a pair of matches, falling 4-3 to Spring Hill College and 4-0 to South Alabama.
Match 1 – Spring Hill College 4, Florida A&M 3
Florida A&M picked up a point in doubles as the team of
Petr Cervinka and
Eliott Ekindi defeated Ulf Grosseloh and Louis Deck, 6-4, at No. 1 and at No. 2,
Jean-Baptiste Mbong and
Robert Hayden knocked off Edric Nitz and Jakob Graevinghoff, 6-2.
In singles play, Cervinka claimed a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Graevinghoff at No. 2, and Mbong defeated Nitz, 6-3, 6-1 at No. 1 to give the Rattlers a 3-0 lead in the match.
However, Spring Hill came storming back at with four straight victories (No. 3, No. 4, No. 5 and No. 6) to earn the win.
Match 2 – South Alabama 4, Florida A&M 0
South Alabama claimed the doubles point to head into singles play ahead, 1-0
In singles action, the Jaguars completed the sweep with victories at No. 1, No. 3 and No. 6.
Florida A&M returns to action on Saturday, Feb. 22 in Jacksonville, Fla. to take on North Florida.
