HATTIESBURG, Miss. | The Florida A&M University men's tennis team concluded play at the Southern Miss Spring Invitational on Saturday morning with a 4-0 loss to host Southern Miss.
The Rattlers (0-7) and Southern Miss played to a 1-1 tie in doubles as neither team earned the point.
At No. 1 doubles,
Petr Cervinka and
Eliott Ekindi defeated Hsiang Yi Wang and Vence N'Tcha, 7-6 (7-0 tiebreaker), while Emilio Bowen and Antoine Androine defeated
Rodeny Sturgis and
Robert Hayden, 6-2, at No. 2.
In singles play, Southern Miss claimed the match with four straight singles victories, including a thriller at No. 1 as Cerinka fell to Matthieu Peres, 6-7, 6-4, 12-10.
Florida A&M will look for its first win of the season on Feb. 8 at home against the College of Charleston. First serve at the FAMU Tennis Center is set for 12 p.m.
