HATTIESBURG, Miss. | The Florida A&M University women's tennis team opened the weekend with a tough road loss to Southern Miss, 5-2, on Friday afternoon.
Southern Miss (2-0) swept doubles action to earn one point and picked up wins at No. 2, No. 3, No. 5 and No. 6 to claim the victory.
FAMU earned wins at No. 1 as
Haleigh Porter defeated Arina Amaning, 7-5, in the first set and Amaning retired in the second to give the Lady Rattlers a win.
At No. 4 singles,
Arielle Nealy knocked off Warisara Lee, 5-7, 7-6, 10-8, for the second FAMU point.
Florida A&M (0-4) concludes its weekend with a 1 p.m. match against New Orleans.
