GAINESVILLE, Fla. (Dec. 1) – The FAMU Women's Basketball team (2-4) went cold from the floor in the second half, dropping an 84-40 road decision to the University of Florida at the Stephen O'Connell Center Sunday afternoon.

FAMU got off to a strong first half start, trailing by just seven, 19-12 after the first period, and by 15 points, 40-25 at the half. The Rattlers shot 37.5 percent (12 of 32) from the floor in the first half to 51.4 percent (18 of 35) by the Gators (5-2), who also made three of eight shots from distance.

In the second half, the Rattlers shot 16.7 percent from the floor (6 of 36), while making one of 12 shots from distance, allowing the Gators to outpace them, 44-15 over the final two periods, thanks to 50 percent shooting (18 of 36) from the field.

Overall Sunday, Florida shot 50 percent (36 of 71) from the floor and 31 percent (6 of 19) from beyond the arc, while FAMU finished at 26.5 percent (18 of 68) with two made shots from three-point range.

The Gators won the battle on the boards, finishing with a 51-36 rebounding edge over the visiting Rattlers Sunday.

Leading the way for FAMU was Alaina Rice with 10 points, three rebounds and three steals.Kayla Massop added nine points and six rebounds. Corey Staples and Mikyah Mack both finished with five points, as each splashed one three-pointer. Asia Royster led FAMU with nine rebounds.

Florida had four players core in double figures paced by Zada Williams with 21 points and 19 rebounds, and Briggs Lavender with 17 points and nine rebounds.
