Oregon Ducks Outlast Rattlers 71-64 in Close Game

EUGENE, OR (Dec. 18) – The Florida A&M Rattlers (3-10, 0-0 MEAC) held close to the Oregon Ducks (8-3, 1-0 PAC12) in Eugene, Oregon, but were unable to overcome them in the final minutes and succumb to a 71-64 decision last night in front of 6,909 fans in Matthew Knight Arena.

FAMU leading scorer Justin Ravenel shot an efficient 5-of- 8 from the field, including a 3-of-5 effort from the three-point arc and was perfect on two free throws.  He tallied 15 points on the night.  Bryce Moragne would be the Rattlers' second leading scorer, going 5-of-8 from the field and perfect on his two free throws, while grabbing five rebounds.  M.J. Randolph would round out the trio of FAMU players in double figures.

FAMU shot 46.2 percent from the field and 38.5 percent from three-point range.  As a team, they shot 68.8 percent from the charity stripe. FAMU did show some spark in scoring 15 points on fast break opportunities.  In addition the Rattlers got 23 points from bench players. 

The Ducks were led by Victor Bailey Jr., who knocked down 16 points on 5-of-14 shooting.  Paul White scored 13 and Payton Pritchard chipped in 10 points.  Kenny Wooden wiped the boards with seven rebounds with Francis Okoro grabbing six.

Oregon shot 45.5 percent from the field and just 28 percent from the three-point line.  They would knock down 63.6 percent of their free throws. Nearly half of their points, 34 of them, were scored in the paint.  The Oregon bench chipped in 16 points and the team scored 16 fast break and 19 second chance points.

The Rattlers will swing up to Portland, OR for a Friday game against Portland University before returning home for the Christmas Break.
