Rattlers Snap Home Winning Streak In 69-62 Loss

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (Jan. 25) - The Florida A&M Men's Basketball team had their five-game home win streak snapped as Howard University defeated the Rattlers, 69-62 here Saturday night at the Al Lawson Center in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference contest.
 
HU scored 46 second half points as the Bison erased a nine point halftime deficit.  

The Bison would use a 14-7 run to tie the contest at 40-40, capped off by a James Daniels three pointer with 13:08 to go in the game. 
 
FAMU would cut the Bison's lead to 49-48 on a Jamari Bradshaw free throw with 8:46 left in the contest.
 
HU would take a 59-48 lead with a 10-1 run, capped off by a Prince Okoroh free throw with 5:09 left in the game.
 
A Jamie Adams jumper with 1:20 left in the game cut HU's lead to 66-60 as that would be the closest that FAMU would get as the Bison held on for the 69-62 win.
 
FAMU finished the game shooting 36.0 percent (18-of-50), while HU shot 47.8 percent (22-of-46).
 
In the first half, Howard grabbed the early 8-2 lead on an Okoroh jumper with 15:24 to go in the half. 
 
FAMU would tie the contest at 14-14 on a pair of Bradshaw free throws with 7:08 left in the half, capping a 12-6 run by the Rattlers.
 
The Rattlers would close out the first half with a 20-10 run as FAMU would go into the break with 33-24 lead at the half. 
 
FAMU finished the first half shooting 43.5 percent (10-of-23), while HU shot 42.9 percent (9-of-21).
 
FAMU (7-13, 3-4 MEAC) had three Rattlers to score in double-figures with Adams scoring a team high 19 points, followed by Reggie Lewis with 13 and Bradshaw with 10.   Trey Kellum led the Rattlers on the boards with eight, while Adams dished out three assists.
 
HU was led by the Daniels with 31 points to lead all scorers.  He finished the contest 9-for-11 from the charity stripe and went 4-for-7 from behind the three point arc.  Okoroh added 21 points to round out the cast of double-digit performers.  Marcel Boyd led the Bison on the boards with eight, while HU as a team dished out seven assists.
 
The Rattlers will return to action on Saturday, Feb. 1 as they welcome South Carolina State to the Al Lawson Center in a 6 p.m. start.
