Mychal “Mikey” Victor brings a rare combination of professional experience and HBCU roots to the Florida A&M University football staff, joining head coach Quinn Gray’s inaugural coaching staff in January 2026 as the Rattlers’ defensive analyst.
He joined the program after a stint at Norfolk State were he worked in the secondary.
A native of Pomona, California, Victor’s path to the sideline was forged through a relentless pursuit of his professional football dreams. Victor signed with the New England Patriots as an undrafted free agent following the 2024 NFL Draft after competing in the 2024 East-West Shrine Bowl in Dallas -- one of college football’s premier all-star showcases.
Standing 6-foot-2 and 205 pounds, Victor brought ideal size and length to the cornerback position , and demonstrated his versatility during New England’s 2024 preseason, logging 87 defensive snaps and an additional 29 snaps on special teams across the Patriots’ three preseason contests.
His professional journey continued in 2025 when the Pittsburgh Steelers signed Victor amid a rash of injuries at the cornerback position He appeared in three preseason games for Pittsburgh before being released in the Steelers’ initial round of roster cuts. Victor’s collegiate career is particularly meaningful in the context of FAMU. He played his college ball at UNLV and Alabama State — the latter a fellow HBCU and SWAC rival — giving him firsthand knowledge of the culture, competition level, and unique demands of HBCU football. Over two seasons with the Alabama State Hornets, he appeared in 19 games including 13 starts, recording 55 tackles and two interceptions.
Before that, Victor took the JUCO route, beginning his collegiate career at Ventura College in 2019 — a journey that speaks to the grit and perseverance he now models for FAMU’s student-athletes.
Victor is the younger brother of Azeem Victor, a sixth-round pick in the 2018 NFL Draft who spent time with the Las Vegas Raiders, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and Seattle Seahawks — giving Mychal a lifelong immersion in professional football at the highest level.
Now channeling that experience into coaching, Victor joins a FAMU program on the rise under Coach Gray, bringing an NFL-tested perspective to the Rattlers’ defensive backfield. His background — from JUCO to HBCU to NFL training camps — equips him with a credibility and relatability that resonates directly with the young men he develops in Tallahassee.
