Larry Williams joined Florida A&M University as Director of Football Operations in December 2025, returning to his alma mater after four years at the University of Florida. Williams brings a wealth of coaching and administrative experience to the Rattlers’ program, having built an extensive career across multiple levels of collegiate football.

Prior to his return to FAMU, Williams spent four years at the University of Florida. Before that, he served as running back and special teams coach at Tennessee State University, where he spent his first season with the Tigers in 2013 after five seasons at Miles College in the same capacity.
At Miles, Williams helped the Golden Bears achieve historic success, guiding the program to its first SIAC Western Division Title, SIAC Championship Game appearance and Division II SIAC Championship in 2011.
Williams spent the 2006-07 season at Edward Waters College in Jacksonville, Fla., where he coached defensive backs and assisted as special teams coordinator. He also served as video and academic coordinator while recruiting the South Florida, Southwest Florida, Tampa and Jacksonville areas. Following his tenure at Edward Waters, Williams joined Florida International University as a graduate assistant.
Williams previously coached at Florida A&M University from 2002-06, serving as a graduate assistant working with linebackers and the secondary for his first three seasons before being named defensive backs coach in 2005.
Before beginning his collegiate coaching career, Williams served as a player/coach in the secondary for the Tallahassee Thunder in the AFL2 league from 2001-02. The Thunder captured the Southeast Division title both seasons Williams was with the organization, and the team finished with the top rushing defense in the league in 2002.
A 1994 graduate of Miami American High School, Williams went on to attend Florida A&M University, where he was a two-sport student-athlete from 1994-98. He earned four letters each in football and track and field. On the gridiron, Williams played in the 1995 Heritage Bowl, was a member of the 1995 and 1996 MEAC Championship teams and the 1998 Black College Championship team, and helped the Rattlers advance to the Division I-AA Playoffs in 1996, 1997 and 1998.
On the track, he was a member of the 1995 MEAC Indoor Championship and 1997 MEAC Outdoor Championship teams.
Williams earned a bachelor’s degree in Landscape Design and Management from Florida A&M University in 1999.???
