Dahon Mixon joined the Florida A&M University football staff in January 2026, serving as the program’s Edge and Defensive Line Coach.
 
Prior to arriving in Tallahassee, Mixon spent two seasons as a Graduate Assistant Defensive Coach at Alabama State University, where he helped build one of the SWAC’s premier defensive units.

The Hornets ranked first or second in the conference in nine statistical categories and top 10 in the FCS in 10 categories. Alabama State led the SWAC in sacks (39), fumbles forced (16), turnovers gained (27), fewest first downs allowed (180), total defense (265.0 ypg) and scoring defense (16.7 ppg), while also ranking among the conference’s best in rushing defense (105.9 ypg), interceptions (15) and turnover margin (+0.75).

Before his time at Alabama State, Mixon served as Special Teams Coordinator and Defensive Backs Coach at Highland Community College.

A former collegiate player, Mixon began his playing career at Dodge City Community College in 2018 before completing his eligibility at Winston-Salem State University in 2022.

The Columbia, S.C., native attended C.A. Johnson High School before going on to play at the collegiate level.
