Johnathan Lawrence Butler is entering his first season as FAMU Sprints and Relay Coach. Coach Butler is a Native of Tallahassee, Graduating from Tallahassee Rickards. After High School, Coach Butler matriculated to Florida Agricultural and Mechanical Univeristy playing football (2011-2014) and running Track (2014) He also received his Bachelor’s (Pre-Physical Therapy 15’) and Master’s Degree (Sports Management 19’) .Â
After graduating Coach Butler started his coaching career at Rickards High School (2015-2021). Coach Butler amassed Three District Championships, Four District Runner ups, Two Regional Runner ups, One Regional Champion and One State Runner up. Coach Butler has coached over 25+ district champions, 15+ regional champions, four state champions, six state runner ups ,10+ regional runner ups, 40+ district runner ups, three Coach of the Year awards (’18,’19&’21), 15+ First Team All-Big bend, 15+ 2nd team all big bend, 20 honorable mention, and three athletes of the year (’18, ’19, ‘21).Â
Coach Butler brings a wealth of knowledge in the sprints and relays as a certified USATF coach. Coach Butler also served as a Strength Coach 2019 with Wake Forest Football. Coach Butler loves spending time with family, fishing, playing drums and playing billiards in his free time. Mr. Butler is one of nine siblings
