Al Brown has been a member of Athletics since December of 2012. He assists his wife, Head Bowling Coach Karen Brown, in a variety of areas, inclusive of recruiting, equipment man-­‐ ager and employing different practice and game-­‐time strategies.

Brown’s primary role involves the management of the campus Bowling Facility. FAMU is one of a few institutions that have an on-­‐campus Bowling Facility. This affords the stu-­‐ dent/athlete an opportunity to practice on live NCAA patterns.

Brown is a retired Lieutenant from the Tallahassee Police Department, serving as the Inter-­‐ nal Affairs Commander during the latter part of his career. Additionally, Brown served in the military during the Vietnam Conflict as a Neuropsychiatric Associate at the Alcohol Re-­‐ habilitation Center, Long Beach Naval Hospital. Luminaries such as Betty Ford, Billy Carter and Senator Herman Talmadge sought and received treatment at this center.

Brown and his wife, Head Coach Karen Brown, have amassed several amateur champion-­‐ ship titles on the National, State and Local levels. He is a member of the United States Bowl-­‐ ing Congress, the National Bowling Association (TNBA), and a Past Director of the Tallahas-­‐ see Bowling Association.
