Mike Rice became the head men's golf coach at Florida A&M University in 2018. Before becoming the head coach, Rice was an assistant coach since February 2013.

In 2024, Rice brought home the PGA WORKS Collegiate Championship (HBCU National Championship) for the first time since he was a player in 2000 after the team won with an 891 (+27), winning by 29 strokes. Rice also coached the PGA WORKS Collegiate Championship low medalist Marcus Taylor. Taylor became the ninth Rattler to win the individual event. The golf team also finished second in the SWAC Championship.

In 2021, Rice led the Rattlers to its first MEAC Championship and an appearance in the NCAA Regionals for the first time in program history. The Rattlers won the MEAC Championship with a 755 (+35), winning by 19 strokes. Rice coached four of the top five players in the final APGA Poll, including the number one player Mulbe Dillard.

Rice, a native of Apopka, Fla., was a former golfer at FAMU. Rice was a three-time National Minority All-American (1998-2000) and team captain in 2000. In addition, Rice was part of the 2000 team that won the PGA WORKS Collegiate Championship and was the low medalist of the event with a 208.

Before FAMU, Rice worked as a supervisor for golf operations at the Jake Gaither golf course from 2002-2011. 

Rice graduated from FAMU with a bachelor’s degree in business administration in 2002. Rice is married to Regina Rice, and they have two children, Morgan and Michael. Â
