JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Florida A&M showcased its resilience and rising potential at the University of North Florida Cross Country Invitational on Saturday, battling a deep field of state and regional powers.
Sophomore
Tara Bert led the way for the Rattlers, clocking 18 minutes, 36.7 seconds to finish 22nd overall and ahead of several runners from larger programs. Her performance set the tone for FAMU's determined showing in the 5K event.
She was followed by
Niya Coleman (21:02.8) and
Kristian Prather (21:09.0), while newcomers
Jillian Salmon (21:41.1) and
Alesia Douglas (21:42.2) closed out the Rattlers' scoring five, demonstrating the team's growing depth and youthful promise.
FAMU placed 10th overall with 257 points, finishing ahead of Seminole State College, FSCJ, Bethune-Cookman and South Florida State College in a competitive 14-team field.
The performance underscored the program's upward trajectory, blending veteran leadership with emerging runners. With Bert at the front and a strong supporting pack, FAMU is building momentum heading into the next stretch of the season.
