BATON ROUGE, La. | Breanna Brown-Marshall received Florida A&M's first piece of hardware at the 2024 Southwestern Athletic Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships, claiming the bronze medal in the long jump event. Day one (May 2) also saw 12 Rattlers qualify for finals.
Brown-Marshall lept 5.85 meters (19' 2.5") for one of five podium finishes for FAMU. The others came by way of Lacie Deboskie (1,500), Kirk Dawkins (1,500), Norman Mukwada (400 hurdles), and Katelynn Smith (400 hurdles).
Deboskie was the fastest competitor in the 1,500-meter race, clocking in at 4:58.08, while Dawkins was second to cross the finish line (4:12.26) in the men's event. In the 400-meter hurdles, Mukwada recorded a personal record (53.93). Katelynn Smith raced in at 1:01.58; both finished in third place.
