TALLAHASSEE, Fla. –– Florida A&M tennis swept Alabama State 4-0 Sunday afternoon in a huge match to clinch a share of the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Regular Season Championship with Jackson State and the Hornets.

The Rattlers handled business early in the doubles as Rebekkah Gaines and Reagan Harris won their match 6-3. Sierra Sandy and Larissa Silva followed, winning 6-4 to clinch the doubles point.

Sara Rakim, reigning player of the year, defeated Madalena Andrade in her match, winning 6-1, 6-3 to put the Rattlers up 2-0. Gaines and Harris picked up where they left off in doubles plays as Gaines won 6-3, 6-3, and Harris won 6-4, 6-2 to give the Rattlers the 4-0 win against the previously undefeated Hornets.

Florida A&M's Josh Padilla projects the Rattlers to be the one-seed in the SWAC Tournament, but an official announcement is expected from the league office soon.

The SWAC Tournament will occur at the City Park Tennis Center in New Orleans, Louisiana, on April 19 - 21.
