BIRMINGHAM, Ala. | It's been a few weeks since the Florida A&M track and field program landed multiple Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) athletes of the week;
Breanna Brown-Marshall and
Joseph DeRosier ended the lull Wednesday (April 3), when the former was named the outdoor field athlete of the week and DeRosier the co-outdoor track athlete of the week.
Both were recently invited to compete in the two-day Pepsi Florida Relays (March 29-30) at the University of Florida. Brown-Marshall finished sixth overall in a 26-person field in the long jump; the new personal record (6.09m / 19' 11.75") ranks 51st in the country and first in the SWAC. She also placed fifth in the high jump (1.69m / 5' 6.5").
DeRosier's time in the 110-meter hurdles (13.55) is No. 12 on the NCAA Division I Outdoor Qualifying List and No. 1 on the SWAC Outdoor Performance List. He finished third (out of a seven-person field) in the event.
The Rattlers will have a week off before returning to Gainesville for the Tom Jones Memorial Invitational (April 12-13).
