TALLAHASSEE, Fla. –– Florida A&M capped off one of their best athletic year since the Learfield Sports Directors' Cup was adopted in 1993-94, finishing with 75 total points. The Rattlers placed 191 out of 363 Division I schools, led all Southwestern Athletic Conference members, and was the only SWAC school in the top 200.
"I salute our student-athletes, coaches and staff on this conference-leading finish," said Vice President and Director of Athletics Tiffani-Dawn Sykes. "FAMU excels academically amongst our peers and athletics is no different. I've shared annual goals for FAMU Athletics to our department and I anticipate us moving up in this ranking every year. I encourage our supporters to continue to invest in FAMU Athletics to help us achieve those goals."
This was the eighth time the Rattlers ranked in the top 200 of the Learfield Sports Directors' Cup and tied for the second-most points in FAMU history with 75 (2003-04).
The Rattlers received 25 points from volleyball, women's tennis, and baseball as they competed in the NCAA Tournament.
The Rattlers' best finish came in 1999-00, finishing in 89th with 173.5 points.
