Florida A&M Athletics announces the addition of Breon Hagans as Senior Associate Athletic Director for External Relations

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. –– Florida A&M Athletics Vice President and Director of Athletics Tiffani-Dawn Sykes announced the hiring of Breon Hagans as the Senior Associate Athletic Director for External Relations. 
 
"I am thrilled that Breon has agreed to join the FAMU Athletics Department in this role," said Sykes. "His background in marketing and championships will help us to enhance the experiences of our student-athletes and fans. My vision for FAMU athletics includes providing a championship-level experience for all our student-athletes throughout the year and hosting SWAC and NCAA events in Tallahassee. Breon knows what it takes to make that happen."
 
"I'm excited for the opportunity to take on a new challenge on the Highest of Seven Hills," said Hagans. "I look forward to transitioning from a conference office to being on-campus at Florida A&M, engaging with student-athletes daily, and continuing to push the FAMU brand. Also, I'm thankful for AD Sykes for giving me this opportunity and look forward to assisting her in achieving our goals."
 
Breon Hagans is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in the sports industry. Hagans joined the Rattlers after time at the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) as the Associate Commissioner for Championships and Brand Management from 2012 to 2023. In this role, he oversaw the marketing, promotions, and advertising of various championships, developed championship design elements for apparel and gifts, and managed championship logistics.
 
Hagans also managed all in-arena operations for the CIAA men's and women's basketball tournaments. Additionally, Hagans researched methodologies of other leagues to improve and sustain the quality of student-athletes and fan experience.
 
Hagans received a Bachelor of Science in Sport Management with a concentration in Marketing and Promotions from Winston-Salem State University in 2009, where he served as the Sport Management Majors Club President and completed an internship with the Charlotte Bobcats basketball communications.
 
Moreover, Hagans anticipates graduating in 2024 with a Master of Science in Sport Administration from Liberty University, which he is pursuing online. Also, Hagans has been involved in several sports internships, including one at Roush Fenway Racing, where he worked as a public relations assistant.
 
Finally, Hagans is a member of various professional organizations, including the National Association of Collegiate Marketing Administrators and the Collegiate Event and Facility Management Association. Hagans also received several awards and recognitions, including Charlotte Business Journal's Top 40 Under 40 in 2020 and Planner to Watch by Sports Event Magazine in 2017. He also completed professional development programs such as the Project Management Academy in 2016 and the Division I & II Championship Summit in Colorado Springs, Colorado, in 2017.
