TALLAHASSEE, Fla. | Florida A&M Athletics is in the midst of a renaissance that touches all areas of the department. On Wednesday morning, Vice President and Director of Athletics
Kortne Gosha released the slate of future non-conference football opponents which will certainly continue to raise the profile of the department and continue to enhance the Rattler brand on the national stage. With the announcement of its future non-conference opponents the Florida A&M administration continues to display a commitment to exposing its student-athletes to top-tier competition and scheduling regional and in-state matchups. Both were areas of importance for FAMU Vice President and Director of Athletics
Kortne Gosha and very much in line with his scheduling philosophy.
"This schedule of opponents falls in line with my scheduling philosophy as Vice President and Director of Athletics. We want to provide our student-athletes and fans with an opportunity to see our teams compete against the best in the country. We also want to make sure that we are providing much needed financial support to the program while putting our student-athletes in the best possible position to be successful". VP Gosha said, "These games are very important to our success as a department, and we are fortunate to be in a position to work with colleagues at these institutions to schedule these games and we look forward to competing at a high level for many years to come".
The Rattlers accepted membership into the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) and begin their journey as a full member in the Fall of 2021. Conference action will pit FAMU against Alabama A&M, Alabama State, Alcorn State, Grambling State, Jackson State, Mississippi Valley State, Prairie View A&M, Southern University, Texas Southern, and Arkansas-Pine Bluff, and preparation for those matchups will be key. To assist in that area, Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC), Southeastern Conference (SEC), Sun Belt Conference, and Conference USA competition fill FAMU's upcoming non-conference calendars for many years to come.
Administration also proudly announces the return of traditional meetings with Fort Valley ('21) and Albany State ('22), both of which FAMU shares a longstanding history.
