McCartney Training

McCartney named FAMU Athletics Team Member of the Month

The Florida A&M Department of Intercollegiate Athletics named Kimberly McCartney as the Team Member of the Month for April for her dedication inside the athletic department and going above and beyond on gameday as the head athletic trainer.

As the head athletic trainer, McCartney has worked tirelessly in her role to ensure student-athletes get the proper care. She has primarily worked with volleyball, women's basketball and softball and served as the head athletic trainer during the search for a new assistant athletic director for sports medicine. McCartney, who was previously the assistant athletic trainer, was elevated to head athletic trainer earlier this month.

"Kim has done a phenomenal job in supporting the overall health and wellness of our student-athletes on and off the field of play," Michelle Harper, the Associate Athletic Director for Student-Athlete Welfare and Competitive Excellence, said. "Her tenacity and dedication is evident in the care and compassion she provides to them."

Fun Fact: McCartney loves Disney character, Tinker Bell.

The FAMU Department of Intercollegiate Athletics is committed to creating an environment where all team members are appreciated and recognized for their contributions to the department and the university community.
