NORFOLK, Va. | The Florida A&M University senior
Demetria Bethel was selected to the All-Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Bowling Third Team, the conference announced on Friday afternoon.
Bethel bowled in 345 frames this season and an additional 205 baker frames. She rolled a season-best 233 in the final event of the regular season at the TNBA/HBCU Invitational, where she also averaged a season-best 199.8 pinfall to finish in a three-way tie for MVP honors. The Piscataway, N.J. native registered a 39.3 percentage in single-pin spare conversions and posted a 76.8 percent in over-all-fill (strikes and spares).
Joining Bethel on the third team were Nia Turner (Coppin State), Kaitlyn Robb (Delaware State), Kyla Day (Monmouth) and Rachel Strogin (UAB).
Alexis Neuer, of Delaware State, was named the MEAC Bowler of the Year, while Maryland Eastern Shore's Brooke Roberts was tabbed the MEAC Rookie of the Year. Kayla Bandy, of Maryland Eastern Shore, garnered MEAC Coach of the Year honors.
Neuer highlighted the first team and was joined by Cayla Hicks (Maryland Eastern Shore), Chloe Skurzynski (Maryland Eastern Shore), Cameron Strombeck (North Carolina A&T State) and Taylor Russell (UAB).
Roberts garnered second-team honors and was joined by Brigitte Jacobs (Maryland Eastern Shore), Saige Yamada (Monmouth), Ana Olaya (North Carolina A&T State) and Ericka Quesada (North Carolina A&T State).
