TALLAHASSEE, Fla. | Petr Cervinka won a thrilling three-set match over Clemet Hamel, but it wasn't enough as the Florida A&M University men's tennis team fell to Stetson, 6-1, on Sunday afternoon at the FAMU Tennis Complex.
Florida A&M (0-9) dropped the doubles point and headed into singles action trailing 1-0.
In singles play, Cervinka won the opening set over Hamel, 6-4, but dropped the second set, 6-8, to force a third set. In the third and final set, Cervinka defeated Hamel, 7-6 (5-0 in the tiebreaker) to earn the lone Rattlers win.
Stetson (4-2) won the match with singles victories at No. 1, No. 3, No. 4, No. 5 and No. 6.
Florida A&M returns to action on Friday with a 10 a.m. match against Troy at the Lunsford Tennis Complex in Troy, Ala.
