TALLAHASSEE, Fla. | The Florida A&M University bowling team competed in two weekend tournaments recently as they gear up for the 2020 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Tournament (MEAC) next month.
This past weekend, FAMU was in Orlando, Fla. for the Wildcat Classic, where they finished fifth overall with a 7-5 record. The Rattlers recorded 11,531 pin falls, good for a 177.4 game average.
Keondra Eaton led FAMU with a 194.33 average in six games, rolling three 200 games, topped by a 227 in the fifth game.
Demetria Bethel rolled a six-game average of 191.83, with a high game of 211, while
Monique Ragland posted a 186.33 average in six games, rolling a pair of 200 games, with a 208 high.
Chelsie Cleaves finished the event with a 171.67 average, with a 205 high game.
Bethany Noel posted a five-game average of 162.00, with a 184 high game, while Leanne McLaughlin rounded out the Rattler contingent with a 162, an average.
Two weeks ago, FAMU competed in the FSU Seminole Classic, placing second overall in two flights with 12,245 total pins, behind Emmanuel College, which edged out the Rattlers with 12,646 pins knocked down.
Setting the pace for FAMU was Cleaves, who rolled four 200 games en route to a 193.86 average, with a 241 high game. Eaton was next for the Rattlers with a 187.43 norm in seven games, with a 203 high game. Ragland posted a seven-game average of 184.86, logging three 200 games, highlighted by a 227 high game. Noel rounded out FAMU's Fab Four, rolling a 170.29 average in seven games, with a 204 high game.
Rounding out the FAMU contingent were the trio of Bethel (164.75 in three games / 176 high); McLaughlin (163.0 average in two games / 168 high); and
Destiny Williams (140.0 /140 in one game).
Florida A&M returns to the lanes Feb. 21-23 in Penscola, Fla. at the MEAC Meet No. 2.
