FAMU Cross Country Sweeps Top Spots At S.C. State

ORANGEBURG, S.C. (Oct. 14) – The FAMU Cross country teams continued peaking towards the MEAC championships, sweeping first place in both divisions in the South Carolina  State University Bulldog Cross Country Duals.

     Leading the way for the resurgent FAMU Men was Kenyan David Too, who finished first overall with a time of 23:47.5 over the 8K course, setting an SCSU Course record and a FAMU school record, while heading a quartet of Rattlers who took the top four places.

     Festus Kemboi (24:37.0) ran second.Onesmus Kemboi ran third (24:54.9) and Boniface Mutai placed fourth (25:14.4), with  Titus Kibii (27:41.2), and James Oyetunji (29:23.1) rounding out the FAMU Men's contingent.

    Setting the pace for the FAMU Women was Kenyan Emmax Kiplagat, who ran first overall in the 5K Women's Division in 18:22.9, heading a group of six Rattler Women which took the top six spots.

    She was followed in order by Nancy Murgor (18:41.0), Mercy Rotich (18:42.2), Fridah Limo (19:33.1), Naomi Tanui (20:03.2), and Judith Kibii (20.09.3), with Ascar Koech (21:30.3) placing eighth.
