GAINESVILLE, Fla. (Sept.14) –The FAMU Lady Rattler cross country team placed ninth overall in the University of Florida's 25th Annual Mountain Dew Cross Country invitational at the Mark Bostick Golf Course on the campus of the University of Florida. In the largest field they face annually, with 270 athletes running, the Lady Rattlers held their own, finishing with 225 points. While the team normally runs 5K races, the Mountain Dew Invitational is a 6K race.
Effiey Kosgei led the Lady Rattlers, finishing in 31st place in a time of 22:33.29, followed directly by teammate Cynthia Chelelgo at 22:33.75. Quandra Shanks took 59th place in 23:10.25, while Chandelic Jackson placed 77th in a 23:35.33 time. Zenia George (24:53.90) placed 130th and Ciera Williams (26:23.32) rounded out the team in 182nd place.
As a team, the Lady Rattlers scored just ahead of the LSU Tigers, Florida Gulf Coast and University of Miami Hurricanes. The Lady Rattlers will travel to Daytona Beach, to participate in the B-CU Beach Invitational, where they are the three-time reigning champions.
