GRAMBLING, La. --The Florida A&M volleyball team rallied after dropping the first set to secure a 3-1 victory (23-25, 25-20, 25-15, 26-24) over the Grambling Lady Tigers Monday on the road at Fredrick C Hobdy Assembly Center.
The conference win improved Florida A&M's record to 7-15 overall and 5-6 in SWAC play.
The Rattlers were led by a double-double from Sydney Whitfield, who registered 13 kills and 10 digs on the day. Ladonna Trantham also added 18 kills to help the attack. On the defensive end, Trantham chipped in for with nine digs to go with eight blocks from Farah Farooq.

How It Happened
SET 1 | The Rattlers fell behind early, losing a nail-biter first set 25-23. Florida A&M trailed by as many as six points as Grambling grabbed the advantage for good at 20-19 in a set that was tied up four times before the Lady Tigers took over in the second half of the stanza.
SET 2 | Florida A&M fired back from a first-set loss to take the second set 25-20, evening the match at 1-1. The Rattlerettes took control of the set lead early on at 5-4 and held the lead the rest of the way. Florida A&M led by as many as seven points at 15-8 before finishing off the set. Florida A&M's front row had a solid defensive performance, blocking four Grambling attacks in the stanza and capitalizing on 11 Grambling attacking errors on the way to victory.
SET 3 | Florida A&M won again in the third set to go up two sets to one. The Rattlers grabbed control of the set early when the score was 2-1 and never looked back to win 25-15. Florida A&M led by as many as 10 points at 18-8 before closing out the stanza.
SET 4 | Florida A&M claimed a match win with a 26-24 fourth-set victory, winning their third straight set. The Rattlers seized the set win in spite of trailing by nine points at 20-11 before fighting back to claim victory. Florida A&M jumped in front at 25-24 and hung on the rest of the way., totaling 17 kills along the way.
